Together, change is happening.

When you donate to (or fundraise on behalf of) Dressember Canada, you are part of a strategic anti-trafficking partnership with IJM Canada. We are intentional in ensuring your gifts are applied directly to efforts aiding the fight for freedom to maximize vital support in three impact areas around the world.

Prevention

Stopping it before it starts.

We know that trafficking rarely occurs as a lone injustice; it is an intersectional human rights issue preying on individuals with compounding vulnerabilities. With your help, we are preventing trafficking by equipping and training local leaders as well as reforming legal systems in the communities most at risk of trafficking.

Intervention

Reaching those in need.

Intervention means working locally to remove child victims of trafficking from exploitative situations, as well as providing support and exit pathways for trafficked adults. Intervention involves working with local partners and law enforcement to identify victims, bringing children and families to safety, and collecting evidence for a strong case against traffickers.

Survivor Empowerment

Comprehensive care for survivors.

We know that everyone’s journey is different and each survivor deserves unique, individualized treatment. Dressember Canada provides survivors around the world with holistic support including access to housing, medical treatment, trauma therapy, vocational opportunities, education, and more.

Strategic Impact

This year, Dressember Canada fundraising will go toward IJM’s global efforts in 2023 and beyond combatting five different areas of trafficking in seven countries, protecting some of the world’s most vulnerable communities.

ONLINE SEXUAL EXPLOITATION OF CHILDREN

A form of sex trafficking involving the live streaming of sexual exploitation of children over the internet. Customers anywhere in the world pay and direct the sexual abuse from their own homes.

VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN AND CHILDREN

Women and children experience crimes like rape, sexual assault, molestation and other forms of sexual abuse. Women are particularly vulnerable to violent abuse by their spouses or partners.

LABOR TRAFFICKING

A form of trafficking, labor trafficking uses deception, threats or violence to coerce someone to work for little to no pay.

SEX TRAFFICKING

A form of trafficking in which someone deceives and sexually exploits another person for a profit.

LAND THEFT

Powerful relatives or neighbors can steal a widow’s meager property with violence or lies, leaving widows and orphans homeless.

Today I’m moving forward and making a better life. And I have a message for girls who are still waiting for freedom. Do not lose hope. There are people looking for you.
— Elsa, Survivor

With therapy, I’ve been able to overcome what happened to me. I think I have a big future ahead of me. Now, I can see myself caring for children, like as a pediatrician.
— Liana, Survivor

Without education, you can do nothing. My dream is to study so I can stand on my own two feet. If you want to do something in life, you have to leave your past and focus on the future.
